Me and Mr N had the most wonderful Wedding on 2 November 2018 at a gorgeous country house in East Sussex. With a Disney theme it was everything we had dreamed of and more.

Since we had both joined the 30s club, we had already made the decision to start trying for a baby as soon as we were married. We both wanted to be parents and I could not wait to start a family with the man I loved. We jetted off on our Honeymoon two days after the Wedding – the most amazing 2 weeks travelling along the USA West Coast. We visited San Francisco, Monterray, Los Angeles and finally Las Vegas and we hired a car to get us from place to place.

One month later I started feeling different and wondered if perhaps the impossible had happened and we were already pregnant. We both have friends who are desperate to be parents and would be perfect at doing so but tragically up until now it hasn’t happened for them so we were probably more cautious and I put my strange feelings down to post Honeymoon blues.

We had been using a fertility tracker to find out when would be the best time to try and conceive. I had stopped using the contraceptive pill over 2 years ago and thankfully my cycle was regular so I knew where I was. The tracker said that I could take a pregnancy test on 14 December so that it is exactly what we did. That morning before work I excitedly went to the bathroom and took the test. It was negative. I got back into bed with Mr N and cried.

That afternoon I met my Mum for a boozy dinner in London and as always lots of Pinot was consumed however, the night ended badly when the Lemon Tart I had only moments ago happily enjoyed left me running for the loo. I was violently sick and confused about what that meant. The next morning at 2am (far too early for Mr N’s liking) I decided to do another pregnancy test and to my complete shock I saw that one important word ‘Pregnant’. After excitedly running into the bedroom to show Mr N, we had a kiss and a cuddle and went back to sleep until 6am. I still couldn’t quite believe what had happened in the night so I decided to take another test which again showed the same result.

Later that day, we visited both sets of parents and announced that they were going to be grandparents in 9 months’ time. Everyone was overjoyed and we were already so excited for our next adventure.
